Partnerships Coordinator

Due to our current UK SPF funded post holder moving on to pastures new, we now have an opportunity to use the remaining funds to offer a minimum 6-month secondment opportunity to support our wider volunteering and fundraising activities. 

Job Title: Partnership Co-ordinator

Location: The Junction, Horbury, Wakefield, WF4 5FH. The role may require some travel within the Yorkshire and Humber region

Hours: The 6 months will start from when the post holder starts. The working week is 35 hours. The working hours for the post are flexible and we will consider a range of different working hours, to suit the right candidate, from a minimum of 3 days (21 hours), up to a maximum of 5 days (35 hours), per week.

We will also consider applications on a consultancy basis.

The role will require occasional working outside normal hours.  A range of flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available.

Length of contract: Minimum of 6 months.

Reports to: Chief Executive

Salary band: CIRCA £35,000 p.a. depending on experience and qualifications.

Prosper Wakefield District is an independent grant making charity that wants to make a big difference to support people to live longer healthier lives. Our vision is for a stronger, healthier, more equal Wakefield, where charities and partner organisations from all sectors work together to support people to thrive.

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Partnerships Co-ordinator who will help us deliver and drive funds to our new campaign, ‘The Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal’, and also support the development of volunteering opportunities between the Voluntary and Community Sector, and our business partners. Ideally this would be someone with experience of working in the VCSE sector with a knowledge of building partnerships, fundraising, grants and volunteering.

Main duties of the role

Engaging with businesses and individuals to donate to the campaign, and Prosper’s wider vision

  • Identify, approach, and cultivate relationships with potential partners
  • Pitching to businesses to support the appeal
  • Engaging with community groups to encourage fundraising and supporting them on their fundraising journey
  • Delivering emotive and informative talks to businesses and community groups
  • Supporting businesses to realise their Corporate Social Responsibility aspirations by investing resources including non-financial support to the sector
  • Encouraging businesses to fundraise towards the appeal
  • Identifying Trusts and Grants to apply for a donation
  • Working with other grant funders to encourage partnership working

Supporting the VCSE sector across the Wakefield district:

  • Working with VCSE organisations to identify development needs in partnership with NOVA
  • Planning and hosting training events and masterclass events for VCSE organisations in partnership with NOVA
  • Working with businesses to encourage skill sharing with VCSE sector
  • Partnering with Citizen Coin to develop volunteering opportunities with businesses and to connect volunteering opportunities based on need and skills.
  • Liaising with the Community Connectors and with the work of the Healthy and Sustainable Communities programme, to understand local needs and opportunities.

Other duties:

  • Working closely with Prosper’s Communications Officer to develop different modes of communications and the target audiences for the ‘Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal’
  • Represent the charity at the Wakefield Funders Forum and Yorkshire Funders Forum and seek other networking opportunities
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of key stakeholders including grant funders, Trustees, funding partners, third sector leaders, health and statutory partners, elected members, and politicians
  • Keep staff and trustees informed about key developments, events, and achievements.
  • Other tasks, commensurate with the post, that the Chief Executive may deem appropriate (including occasional support for work that cuts across other areas of the charity’s work)

We want someone with an instinct for opportunities and who has passion and empathy for organisations who we support, looking to level up and improve the lives of people across the district.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • An ambitious entrepreneurial spirit with a positive, solution-based approach
  • A strategic thinker who see the ‘bigger picture’ and where we can ‘join the dots’ to support the areas that need our help
  • Proven experience in partnership development, fundraising, or business development, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Be a confident public speaker and be able to engage with people at all levels and from different backgrounds
