Prosper met with Leeds GATE to catch up on the work they are delivering to local Gypsies and Travellers.

Leeds GATE are a brave and creative member-led organisation who work to improve quality of life for Gypsy and Traveller people across West Yorkshire. Leeds GATE supports families and individuals throughout their lives and towards lasting change across five main areas: improving access to homes, health, education, employment & financial inclusion, and social inclusion.

Prosper donated £19,738.76 enable them to employ a part-time Youth Worker to allow them to engage with even more families through their outreach service, expanding their offer across the Wakefield district. The funding will also be used towards continuing to deliver support on their Heath Common site where they provide learning activities through group work for children and young people such as arts & crafts, wellbeing activities, basic baking skills and much more.

Kayleigh Bradshaw, Leeds GATE’s Wakefield Team Leader said:

“Leeds GATE belongs to Gypsies and Travellers, who were incredibly excited and very grateful to receive funding from Prosper so that we can continue to support members of our community and expand our offer throughout Wakefield. We felt inspired that Prosper believed in the work which we do”.

We were delighted to present the cheque to Leeds GATE and we wish them every success with the amazing work which they do!
