Every child deserves a bed to sleep in

Imagine trying to get through your day after a night spent on a cold, hard floor. For too many children in our community, this is their reality. A bed is more than just a piece of furniture – it’s a place where children can rest, dream, and feel safe. Yet, over 6,000 children in the Wakefield district go to sleep every night without a bed to call their own. We believe that every child deserves better. That’s why we’ve joined forces with specialist partners to launch the Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal, an initiative dedicated to providing beds for children who need them most.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that every child in the Wakefield District has a comfortable bed to sleep in. We understand that a bed is a basic need that can have a profound impact on a child’s physical health, emotional well-being, and academic success. By providing a child with a bed, you’re not only giving them a good nights’ sleep, you’re giving them a good education, hope, a future, a routine and stability. Working with specialist partners Zarach, and founding partners; Gleeds, Wakefield Community Foundation, Wakefield District Council, Juice Personnel and SoluPak we can deliver beds across the district to those who need them.

How We Can Make a Difference

Through generous donations from local businesses and people across the district, we’re able to:

Purchase New Beds

By partnering with specialist children’s bed charity Zarach, we are able to deliver high-quality beds that are safe, comfortable, and built to last. £200 buys a child’s bed, mattress, bedding, pillow and set of pyjamas.

Deliver to Families in Need

Our team of volunteers deliver the bed bundle directly to families, ensuring that children have a bed to sleep in as quickly as possible

Provide Bedding Essentials

Each bed comes with new, clean, cosy bedding and a set of pyjamas to make sure children feel warm and secure from the very first night.

The Impact

Every bed we provide transforms a child’s life. Studies show that children who get adequate sleep are healthier, perform better in school, and have improved emotional well-being. By giving a child a bed, you’re not just helping them sleep better – you’re helping them live better, play better and study better. When school grades increase, so does self-confidence, aspirations and future employment opportunities.

Any corporate donation will give you an e-badge to be used in your email signatures, presentations, creds decks… anywhere you need to shout about your charitable work! In addition to this, you’ll know that you have changed the lives of children living in your district by providing them with a good night’s sleep.

Donate to buy a bed

You can donate to buy a bed set, including a mattress, pillow, pyjamas and bedding on our Just Giving page.

Volunteer

Help us deliver beds or spread the word about our cause! We need delivery drivers and people/businesses who can store or donate beds. To get involved with our volunteering opportunities you can either click the button below or follow this link to fill out the volunteer form. All volunteering is run by specialist charity Zarach.
